End The Government Monopoly On Personal Safety

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

The very waste full and useless long gun registry could very well be a thing of the past we need to support the politians that are moving to put the final nail in the coffin on this program. Its very easy for Conservative MP’s to vote to remove this attack on personal freedom, however the Liberal MP’s will need more support in doing the right thing, please e-mail the following Liberal MP’s and let them know that you support them supporting the end to this abomination.

Tax Payer Federation

Make MPs reveal expenses

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

This was sent to me by the tax payers federation. This one should be easy seeing how our PM ran a campaign for years about transparency and accountability.

Make MPs Reveal Expenses
Our Members of Parliament could be charging taxpayers ridiculous expenses and we wouldn’t even know it. Last year, MPs wracked up $127 million in office expenses, but did not reveal how that money was spent.
Our recent federal commentary explains why such exposure is so important.
A recent scandal over outrageous spending by British MPs has caused resignations, recriminations and early retirements. British MPs fought tooth and nail in court to avoid having the results from a freedom of information request for these expenses released. No wonder. The information revealed crazy MP spending, including taxpayers paying for the clearing of a moat, a nanny, a husband’s adult videos, a second home 10 kilometres from the first home, personal furniture delivered to ineligible locations, $1,000 a month without receipts for food, Sinn Fein MPs claiming over $1 million for second homes while never taking their seats in London, an MP hiring his son who was a full-time student, a tooth brush and a $1 drain plug, just to name a few.
Please give a donation of just $10 to help the CTF continue its efforts to hold government accountable to taxpayers.
Not surprisingly, the British scandal has prompted Canada’s auditor general to want to examine MP spending here. Clearly this is necessary. That’s why the CTF’s Kevin Gaudet told CTV the books should be opened for all to see.
Canadians need to tell Ottawa loud and clear the status quo is not acceptable! Click here to find your MP’s contact information and tell them the following.
  1. The Auditor General should have access to the records of MPs’ office spending.
  2. All MPs expenses should be put online for all to see, similar to Toronto city councillors.
  3. Your MP should not wait for disclosure to become mandatory policy, but follow the example of Michelle Simson, Liberal MP for Scarborough Southwest and post them today.
Prime Minister Harper also needs to hear from you. He can be contacted by email at pm@pm.gc.ca, faxed at (613)941-6900, or written at 80 Wellington Street, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2.

Together, we can make a difference. Stand up! Be Heard!

Tax Freedom Day

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Tax Freedom Day has come and gone. Frasier Institute has released a video to mark the occasion. Taxes are taken by force so technically the government requires you to work to pay those taxes so consider yourself a slave to taxes for the first 5 months of the year. Next time you hear of waste of tax dollars remember those dollars came from you hard work and effort to make that money.

Here is a few videos to remind us what they are currently doing with the budget and that money. GM won’t be paying back they have already admitted to not begin able to pay back the original bailout.

Canada’s 11th Annual Gas Tax Honesty Day

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Today is Gas Tax Honesty Day. The government taxes amount to 37% of what you pay for your gasoline at the pumps. To add insult to injury they are charging gst on there own gas tax. Take a look at the Tax Payer federation of Canada’s page for more details. Remember to call your local , provincial and federal representatives ,you can’t expect government to change unless you tell them what that change should be.

  • Canadians expected to pay $5.9 billion in federal gas taxes in 2009
  • Federal Gas Tax Accountability Act required.
  • Time to lower gas taxes by 5 cents a litre — starting with ending GST ‘tax-on-tax’
